Bobbi Uhl of Shilo Country Club has a three stroke lead over Southwood Golf & Country Club’s Rhonda Orr after the opening round of the Diamond Athletic Women’s Amateur Championship at Niakwa Country Club.
Despite a double bogey on the third hole, Uhl followed it up with birdies on the sixth and eighth holes. Orr bogeyed the first hole, but followed it up with birdies on two and seven.
Charmaine Mackid of Breezy Bend Country Club is five strokes off the pace at 81 while Jill Hardy of the host course, defending champion Veronica van der Meer and Hannah Diamond of St. Charles Country Club all opened with an 82.

Eric Johnson of Breezy Bend Country Club had an eagle on the 11th hole alongside four birdies in the opening round of the Diamond Athletic Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship.
Johnson was the only player below par at one under 70 (35-35).
Jordy Lutz of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club (34-37), Todd Fanning of the host course (36-35) and Pine Ridge Golf Club’s Tyler Hall (35-36) are tied for second at even par 71.
