Programs

Golf Manitoba, in partnership with the First Tee – Prairies and the PGA of Canada, operates a variety of regional and national programs aimed at introducing golf to juniors.

Through the generous funding provided by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation and support from Sport Manitoba and Golf Canada, Golf Manitoba is pleased to offer the the below programs at no charge to local schools, community centres, and member clubs of Golf Manitoba.

Golf in Schools

The Golf in Schools program offers elementary age students the opportunity to develop a skill set and have experiences that will encourage and support their participation in golf. Delivered by a PGA of Canada Community Coach certified instructor, Golf in Schools lessons are designed to give students an educational and fun experience through the sport of golf, while developing movement concepts and skills.

Program Details

Golf in Schools clinics are open to Manitoba schools from September through June (subject to availability of instructor and school location).

We provide the equipment (suitable for both indoor and outdoor instruction), and a full or half-day of learning and instruction.

Junior Skills Challenge

Junior Skills Challenge is an online and interactive program that focuses on developing the key golf skills of putting, chipping and driving. An online leaderboard allows site coordinators to upload players’ scores so they can track their improvement. Using the data, players are ranked nationally by age group, and by scores on the National Leaderboard. Top competitors nationally are invited to compete in the annual Junior Skills Challenge National Event.

The Golf Manitoba 2023 provincial Junior Skills Challenge national qualifier will be held on Sunday, July 16 at the Southwood Golf & Country Club.
