Changes to the Public Health Order announced by the Province of Manitoba

The Province of Manitoba has announced new public health orders which will be in effect as of Saturday, August 7th at 12:01 a.m.

With continued improvement in the overall COVID-19 situation, the interim public health orders only restrict the most high-risk transmission environments. Public health recommendations and guidance, rather than restrictions, will play an increasingly significant role as Manitoba prepares for a shift from pandemic to endemic COVID-19.

Guidelines specific to the golf industry include:

Masks & Physical: Masks are strongly recommended in indoor public settings

Distancing: Everyone who is not fully immunized including children under 12. At all times, a physical distance of two meters is recommended in indoor public places.

Public Health Measures: Public use items such as ball washers, bunker rakes and benches can all be put back in play on the golf course. Pins on greens can now be removed for play.

Indoor Gatherings: Indoor gatherings and events including weddings, funerals, banquets and receptions: Capacity limited to 50 people or 50% of capacity, whichever is greater. Dance floors will remain closed and close gathering and mingling are not recommended.

Outdoor Gatherings: Outdoor gatherings and events including weddings, funerals, banquets and receptions: Capacity limited to 1,500 people or 50% of capacity, whichever is lesser. Dance floors will remain closed and close gathering and mingling are not recommended.

Dining: There will be no group limits for indoor and outdoor dining, no capacity limits or separation requirements between tables and immunization cards will not be required to access services. Guests must remain seated as much as possible and patrons should maintain two-metre distance whenever they are away from their table.

Staff must ensure patrons do not congregate inside/outside restaurants or licensed premises and there is to be no socializing between tables.

Operating hours will no longer be restricted. Dance floors remain closed and sound levels must remain limited below 80-decible levels.

Retail: No capacity limits in place and patrons should maintain two-meter distance from other patrons.

Lessons & Golf Camps: No capacity limits in place and participants should maintain two-meter distance from other participants.

Please note that this public health order is in effect until Tuesday, September 7th, 2021 at 12:01 am and will be reassessed at that time in the context of vaccination rates and the province’s overall COVID-19 situation.
