Team Breezy Bend, Team Rossmere tops at Women’s Four-Ball Championship

It turned out to be a sunny but windy day at the Bel Acres Golf & Country Club for the first playing of the Golf Manitoba Women’s Four-Ball Championship.

In the Women’s “A” Championship, the team of Charmaine Hayden and Veronica van der Meer of the Breezy Bend Country Club topped the leaderboard in the Club Division with a 3-under par score of 70. Rhonda Orr and Fran Povoledo of Southwood, finished in second with a score of 74. Hayden and van de Meer also took top place in the Open Division.

The team of Trudy Adamson and Cindy Grant of the Minnedosa Golf & Country Club had the Low Net score in the Club Division shooting a 4-under par 67. Finishing just 1 shot behind was Karen Nistico and Shannon Taweel of the Elmhurst Golf & Country Club. Adamson and Grant were also the Low Net winners in the Open Division.

In the Women’s “B” Championship, the team of Lea Savatic and Grace Atkins of the Rossmere Country Club took top honours in the Club Division shooting a gross score of 93. Dianna Sandstrom and Jean Garbolinsky of the Minnedosa Country Club finished runner-up also shooting a score of 93 but lost on a countback. The team of Savatic and Atkins also took top spot with the low gross score in the Open Division.

Sandy Birley and partner Sandy Shore, playing out of the Tuxedo Golf Club, earned Low Net honours with a 7-under score of 67. Finishing in the runner-up spot was Paulette Connery and Diane Wilson of the Portage Golf Club with a score of 68. Birley and Shore also won the Low Net in the Open Division.
