Spence Mott (Team Manitoba / Shilo Country Club) opened with a 2-over par 74 at the 2025 Canada Summer Games at Bally Haly Country Club in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Entering Wednesday’s second round, Mott is the highest placing Manitoban on the leaderboard at T5.

PREVIEW | Boge, Mott, Shewchuk & Thomas set to tee off at 2025 Canada Summer Games
The 2025 Canada Summer Games tee off at Bally Haly Country Club in St. John’s, Newfoundland and will feature a field of 44 players, 10 provinces and a territory battle for gold in the tournament’s golf event today through Friday.
Representing our province are Brayden Boge (Team Manitoba / Rossmere Country Club), Spence Mott (Team Manitoba / Shilo Country Club), Maisy Shewchuk (Team Manitoba / Quarry Oaks Golf Course) and Camryn Thomas (Team Manitoba / St. Charles Country Club) under the guidance of Golf Manitoba Director of Player Development Sean Murray and Assistant Coach Bri-Ann Tokariwski.
Both a team and individual competition will run concurrently over 72 holes, the former grouping a pair of male and female players from the same province together to battle for medals in a mixed-gender team competition. The lowest score from a player of each gender will represent the team’s total score following the conclusion of each round.

Golf debuted at the Canada Summer Games in 2009 and has featured in every summer program since, fostering a growing list of alumni over the years that currently boasts the likes of five-time RBC Canadian Open participant Eugene Wong and current Team Canada members Myles Creighton, Étienne Papineau, Brigitte Thibault and Monet Chun.
Bally Haly Country Club will kick off 72 holes of competition. Throughout the week, players will descend on the property’s South Championship Course, a par-72 course that provides a diverse and dynamic layout through its picturesque natural surroundings.
RESULTS | Kartusch & Lafleche sisters lone Manitobans to make the cut at Canadian Junior Boys & Girls Championships
Addison Kartusch (St. Charles Country Club), Jeri Lafleche (Niakwa Country Club) and Jewel Lafleche (Niakwa) are the three Manitobans to make the cut following 36 holes of play at the Club de golf Sainte Marie in Sainte-Marie, Quebec for the Canadian Junior Girls Championship, presented by BDO.
Kartusch is 22nd on the leaderboard following a 1-over par 73 during her second round for a current 9-over par 153 tournament total. Jeri shot a 77 to sit with a 16-over par 160 total which is T43 followed by Jewel’s 81 on Thursday which has her four strokes back of her older sister on the leaderboard.
Payton Oakden (Team Manitoba / Wheat City Golf Club) and Camryn Thomas (Team Manitoba / St. Charles) failed to make the cut.
Team Manitoba (Kartusch, Jeri Lafleche & Oakden) finished fourth in the 36 hole Inter-Provincial Team Championship at 24-over par, 15 strokes back of first place British Columbia.

No Manitobans made the cut at the Canadian Junior Boys Championship, presented by BDO at Gowan Brae Golf & Country Club in Bathurst, New Brunswick.
Ty Brewster (Team Manitoba / Quarry Oaks Golf Course) 70-81, Brayden Boge (Team Manitoba / Rossmere Country Club) 73-77, Spence Mott (Team Manitoba / Shilo Country Club) 75-76, Ryder St. Laurent (Team Manitoba / Niakwa) 76-76 and Terence Rafferty (Southwood Golf & Country Club) 78-70 were all eliminated through two rounds.
In the Inter-Provincial Team Championship, Manitoba (Brewster, Mott and St. Laurent) finished in ninth place.

Addison Kartusch (St. Charles Country Club) shot an 8-over par 80 to lead the five Manitobans in the opening round at Club de golf Sainte Marie in Sainte-Marie, Quebec for the Canadian Junior Girls Championship, presented by BDO.
Kartusch is T37 on the leaderboard entering Thursday’s second round.

The top junior female golfers from across North America are set to compete at Club de golf Sainte Marie in Sainte-Marie, Quebec for the Canadian Junior Girls Championship, presented by BDO.
This year’s field features 141 of Canada’s top golfers from the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) are included in the 144-player field along with three international competitors.

Founded in 1962, the Sainte-Marie Golf Club is set in a stunning landscape with mature trees and views of the Beauce Valley; the Sainte-Marie Golf Club offers greens and fairways of unmatched quality. Thanks to the partnership of two visionary businessmen, Mr. Benoît Vachon and Mr. Roland Lacroix, land located on Rang St-Étienne in Sainte-Marie caught their attention due to its proximity, terrain, and vegetation. Together, Mr. Vachon and Mr. Lacroix fully committed to realizing this great dream, investing their time and generously contributing significant financial support. From 1968 to 1969, under the supervision of architect Howard Watson, a series of major works were carried out to expand and improve the original nine-hole course.
The Canadian Junior Girls Championship has a long list of distinguished past champions that have etched their name on the Brokenshire Trophy. Past champions include, Canadian Golf Hall of Famers Sandra Post (1964-66), Betty Stanhope (1956), Judy Darling (1957), Gail Harvey Moore (1958-1960) and Gayle Borthwick (1961). In addition, LPGA Tour players, Alena Sharp (1999), Brooke Henderson (2012) and Maddie Szeryk (2013). Stollery Family Team Canada Women’s Head Coach Salimah Mussani (1996) is also a past Canadian Junior Champion.
The 2025 Canadian Junior Girls champion will receive an exemption into the 2026 Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship and the 2026 Canadian Junior Girls Championship and 2026 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, if eligible.

RESULTS | Brewster top Manitoban to open Canadian Junior Boys Championship
Ty Brewster (Team Manitoba / Quarry Oaks Golf Course) shot even par 70 and is the low Manitoban on the leaderboard following the opening round of the Canadian Junior Boys Championship, presented by BDO at Gowan Brae Golf & Country Club in Bathurst, New Brunswick.
Brewster‘s round, highlighted by four consecutive birdies on holes three through six, puts him T17, only four strokes off the lead.

Team Ontario reclaims Willingdon Cup, Manitoba places 7th
GATINEAU, Que. – Team Ontario overcame a three-stroke deficit on Tuesday to avenge their runner-up finish from last year’s event and claim their 33rd Willingdon Cup, capping off a busy second round at the 120th playing of the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship, presented by BDO.
Dawson Lew from Toronto, Ont. was a key player in Team Ontario’s resurgence, helping them reclaim the top spot in the annual Inter-Provincial Team Championship. Despite an early bogey, Lew impressively played his next 10 holes at 5-under par, ultimately helping his team best Team Quebec by 7 strokes.
Team Manitoba, represented by Ryan Blair (Elmhurst Golf & Country Club), Drew Jones (Shilo Country Club) and Evan Nachtigall (Shilo Country Club) shot a final round team score of 4-over par to finish in 7th place.
All ten players from Manitoba did not advance past the second round with the cut line posted at 3-over par.

Team Manitoba 6th after round one of the 2025 Willingdon Cup
GATINEAU, QC – Team Manitoba, featuring Evan Nachtigall (Brandon), Drew Jones (Brandon), and Ryan Blair (Winnipeg), wrapped up their opening round at the 2025 Willingdon Cup Inter-Provincial Team Championship today at the Rivermead Golf Club. This prestigious team event runs concurrently with the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship presented by BDO, which is contested at both the Rivermead Golf Club and the Royal Ottawa Golf Club.
Under the “play three, count two” format, Manitoba delivered a solid start. Ryan Blair led the charge with a 1-over 71, closely followed by Evan Nachtigall’s 2-over 72. Drew Jones rounded out the team play posting a 5-over par score of 75.
Manitoba currently sits in 6th place at +3 in the Willingdon Cup standings. While Quebec and Ontario hold the top spots, the race for the Willingdon Cup, which concludes after tomorrow’s second round, is wide open.
Beyond the official team, seven other Manitobans were also in the field for the Canadian Men’s Amateur on Monday. This group includes four-time Nott Autocorp Men’s Amateur Champion Braxton Kuntz, who opened with a 3-over 73 and is currently tied for 108th out of 264 players. Payne Wood, a member of Golf Manitoba’s Team Manitoba junior development program, opened with a 9-over 79 and is tied for 232nd.
The starting field of 264 players for the Canadian Men’s Amateur will be reduced to the low 70 and ties following the second round, with the final two rounds held exclusively at The Royal Ottawa Golf Club.

Team Manitoba Finishes 5th at Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship
Team Manitoba finished 5th in the Inter-Provincial Team Championship in the 111th playing of the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship, presented by BDO.
Team Manitoba finished with a two-day score of 320, just two shots shy of Team Alberta and Team Quebec who both finished in a tie for third place. Team Manitoba was represented by Addison Kartusch of the St. Charles Country Club, Cala Korman of Killarney Lakeside Golf Club, and Clara Peake of the Minnedosa Golf & Country Club.
Team British Columbia (B.C.) reclaimed the Inter-Provincial Team Championship for the first time since 2022 on Wednesday at The Riverside Country Club in Rothesay, N.B. Manitoba Third after Opening Round of Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship
Team Manitoba sits in third place after the opening round of the Inter-Provincial Team Championship being played at 111th Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship in Rothesay, New Brunswick. Cala Korman of the Killarney Lakeside Golf Course was the low Manitoban in the team competition shooting a 5-over par score of 77. Clara Peake of the Minnedosa Golf & Country Club contributed with an 8-over par round of 80. Addison Kartusch of the St. Charles Country Club rounded out the team scoring with an 84.
Team Manitoba sits at +13 and eights shots back of 2nd place Team Ontario and ten shots back of 1st place Team British Columbia. The team event will conclude following tomorrow’s second round.
In the stroke play portion of the championship, Macy Pate of Winston Salem, MC, United States, opened with a 4-under par score of 68. Clara Ding from Whiterock, B.C., is in a tie for 2nd place. Niakwa Country Club’s Jeri Lafleche and Jewel Lafleche were also in the field shooting scores of 85 and 95 respectively.
