9 Manitobans make the cut at NextGen Prairie Championship
Father’s Day in Saskatchewan will see nine Manitobans play the third and final round of the NextGen Prairie Championship at The Legends Golf Club in Warman.
Following Saturday’s second round the field was reduced.
In the junior boys championship, Brayden Boge (Team Manitoba / Rossmere Country Club) is T7 on the leaderboard at even par 144 (70-44) while Payne Wood (Team Manitoba / St. Boniface Golf Club) is just one stroke back (75-70).
Also advancing are Adam Blair (Team Manitoba / Pine Ridge Golf Club), Hunter Oakden (Team Manitoba / Wheat City Golf Course), Spence Mott (Team Manitoba / Shilo Country Club), Ryder St. Laurent (Team Manitoba / Niakwa Country Club), Hudson Hunnie (Team Manitoba / Rossmere) and Owen Conrad (Team Manitoba / St. Charles Country Club).
Jewel Lafleche (Niakwa Country Club) is the lone Manitoban on the junior girls leaderboard to make the cut at 15-over par (77-82).

Boge leads Manitoba into Day 2 at the NextGen Prairie Championship in Saskatchewan
Brayden Boge (Team Manitoba / Rossmere Country Club) shot a 2-under par 69 in the opening round of the NextGen Prairie Championship at The Legends Golf Club to sit T2 on the leaderboard, one stroke off the lead. Boge’s round included five birdies,10 pars and three bogeys.
Hunter Oakden (Team Manitoba / Wheat City Golf Course) is T8, opening at even par 72.
Jewel Lafleche (Niakwa Country Club) is T10 on the junior girls leaderboard, five strokes off the lead, following a 5-over par 77.

44 competitors competed through a weekend of wind and rain at Carman Golf & Curling Club.
Ty Montour (Team Manitoba / Scotswood Links), Hunter Oakden (Team Manitoba / Wheat City Golf Course) and Angelina Sitarz (Team Manitoba / Elmhurst Golf & Country Club) were the respective division gold medal winners in the U15 Championship presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation.
Montour won the 12 & Under Junior Boys Championship finishing 36 holes of play at 162, 11 strokes ahead of Tiago Miranda (Team Manitoba / St. Charles Country Club).
Oakden needed one hole playoff to claim the overall Junior Boys championship over Owen Conrad (Team Manitoba / St. Charles). Both players ended regulation play at 2-over par 144. Oakden made a birdie on the playoff to best Conrad’s par.
Sitarz takes home the overall Junior Girls championship by 10 strokes over Mackenzie Bartlett (Team Manitoba / Carman).

For the fifth time in her career, Charmaine Hayden (Breezy Bend Country Club) is the Women’s City & District Champion edging out Marissa Naylor (Niakwa Country Club) by one stroke.

The 2025 All Abilities Gross Division and Net Division titles belong to Kristian Hammerback (Southwood Golf & Country Club). He picked up a six stroke victory over Golf Alberta Public Players Club member Kyle Miller.

Addison Kartusch (St. Charles Country Club), Jordy Lutz (Elmhurst Golf & Country Club) and Cornell Ruddock (Southwood Golf & Country Club) are the gold medal winners of the 2025 Match Play Championship presented by St. Vital Dental Centre.
Kartusch won the Women’s Division for the second straight year and fourth time in her career defeating Jeri Lafleche (Niakwa Country Club) 3&1.
Lutz earned his second Men’s Division Championship beating Michael Tanchak (Niakwa) 2&1. He also struck gold in 2018.
For Ruddock, it is his first Golf Manitoba provincial championship, a 3&2 decision over Blair Neal (Rossmere Country Club)

There will be a new Men’s Division Champion starting Thursday at Elmhurst Golf & Country Club as the Match Play Championship presented by St. Vital Dental Centre tees off.
Marco Trstenjak, of the host course, played his first season as a professional this past winter opening the door for 32 competitors in 2025. Evan Nachtigall (Shilo Country Club) earned the #1 seed shooting a 6 under par 65 Saturday in the Qualifier at Winkler Centennial Golf Course.
Rob Oliphant (Rossmere Country Club) looks to defend his Men’s Senior Championship as the #1 seed. He will be the first to tee off at 1:00 to get the four days of competition underway.
The Round of 16 in the Women’s Division opens Friday with defending champion Addison Kartusch (St. Charles Country Club) entering play as the #5 seed following Saturday’s qualifier. Cala Korman (Killarney Lakeside Golf Club) is the #1 seed carding a 3-under par 68 on the weekend.

Nachtigall, Korman & Oliphant low qualifiers for Manitoba Match Play Championship presented by St. Vital Dental Centre
Evan Nachtigall of Shilo Country Club shot a 6-under par 65 at Winkler Centennial Golf Club Saturday to finish with the low score of 77 Amateur Men vying for a spot in the 2025 Manitoba Match Play Championship presented by St. Vital Dental Centre. Nachtigall birdied four of the final five holes to finish three strokes better than Lyle MacKenzie of Niakwa Country Club.
Cala Korman of Killarney Lakeside Golf Club made four birdies carding the Women’s low round at 3-under par 68, one stroke better than Niakwa’s Jeri Lafleche.
Rossmere Country Club‘s Rob Oliphant repeated as the low qualifier in the Senior Men’s Division at 4-under par 67, six strokes ahead of Cornell Ruddock of Southwood Golf & Country Club and Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member Dan Scanlon.

Welcome Heron Landing Golf Course
Golf Manitoba, in association with Golf Canada, is pleased to welcome Heron Landing Golf Course as our newest member club.
Located just north of Fort Frances, Ontario, five minutes off Highway #11, this 18 hole course can be played from four sets of tee boxes ranging from 4,589 to 7,136 yards.
Heron Landing Golf Course features a driving range, chipping green and putting green. A fully licensed clubhouse and restaurant can host fundraisers, weddings and corporate gatherings. The proshop is available in the clubhouse for all your golfing needs.
As an official Golf Manitoba / Canada member club, all rounds played at Heron Landing Golf Course are acceptable for handicap purposes and may be recorded toward establishing or maintaining an official Golf Canada Handicap Index.
