Marco Trstenjak of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club shot an 8-under par 63, one stroke off tying a course record, at Winkler Centennial Golf Club Sunday to finish with the low score of 55 Amateur Men vying for a spot in the 2024 Manitoba Match Play Championship presented by St. Vital Dental Centre.

Trstenjak’s round featured a streak of six straight birdies on holes through 10 through 15. Grady Chuback of St. Charles Country Club and Terence Rafferty of Southwood Golf & Country Club tied for second at 1-under par 70.

Team Manitoba member Addison Kartusch of St. Charles fired the Women’s low round at 1-under par 70, two strokes better than Breezy Bend Country Club‘s Charmaine Hayden.

Rossmere Country Club‘s Rob Oliphant at 1-over par 72 edged clubmate Blair Neal by a single stroke in the Senior Men’s division.

WINNIPEG – The 2019 Golf Manitoba Championship season officially began with the Match Play Championship Qualifier held May 25 & 26 at Portage Golf Club in Portage La Prairie. Colwyn Abgrall of Southwood Golf & Country Club took top honours in the men’s division shooing a 3-under score of 137 on rounds of 66 and 71. With his finish, Abgrall holds the top seed of the 32 competitors who now move on to the Championship Matches.

Bobbi Uhl of Shilo Country Club fired a two day total of 155 to take the top seed in the women’s division while Garth Collings of Breezy Bend finished at 143 to take top seed in the senior division. Full results of the qualifier are available HERE >>.

Matches 1 & 2 will be held June 1 & 2 at the Minnewasta Golf & Country Club and Matches 3 through 7, including the championship final, will be held at Breezy Bend Country Club from June 3-15. The match play brackets for all three divisions are available HERE >>.
