RESULTS | Fanning & Orr have control entering final round of the Hodson Financial Men’s & Women’s Senior Championships at Glendale Golf & Country Club

Todd Fanning (Niakwa Country Club) and Rhonda Orr (Southwood Golf & Country Club) are atop of their respective leaderboards entering Wednesday’s final round of the Hodson Financial Men’s & Women’s Senior Championship at Glendale Golf & Country Club.

Following a 2-under par 70 during Tuesday’s second round, Fanning at 2-under par 142 through 36 holes, has a three stroke lead on Dan Scanlon (Golf Manitoba Public Players Club) and a seven stroke cushion on Barry Caland (Fort William Country Club) and Jay Doyle (Niakwa).

Mike Walker (St. Boniface Golf Club) has a one stroke lead over Ken Warwick (Niakwa) and a four stroke advantage on Carl Lechman (Elmhurst Golf & Country Club) in the Super Senior Championship.

The Senior Women’s championship currently belongs to Orr following an 80 and a two day total 159. She leads Cathy Derewianchuk (Glendale) by nine strokes and third place Shannon Taweel (Elmhurst) by 12 strokes.

Orr is also 13 strokes better than Michelle Gisiger (Pine Ridge Golf Club) for top spot in the Super Senior Championship.

RESULTS | Fanning and Orr Lead After Round 1 of Hodson Financial Senior Championships

WINNIPEG, MBThe Hodson Financial Men’s & Women’s Senior Championships got underway at Glendale Golf & Country Club on Monday, with Todd Fanning and Rhonda Orr taking the early leads in their respective divisions.

Niakwa Country Club’s Todd Fanning sits atop the men’s leaderboard after a solid opening round. Fanning shot an even par 72 to lead the field by one stroke. He is followed by a three-way tie for second place at 1-over-par 73, which includes past champion Jay Doyle, also of Niakwa Country Club, alongside Cameron Duncan, and Dan Scanlon.

In the women’s championship, Rhonda Orr of Southwood Golf & Country Club continued her dominant form, firing a 7-over-par 79 to take a commanding lead. Orr, who is seeking her tenth consecutive title, leads by five strokes over Shannon Taweel of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club, who finished the day with an 84. Cathy Derewianchuk of the host Glendale Golf & Country Club and Nicole Morton are tied for third with a score of 86.

The Hodson Financial Senior Championships will continue with the second round on Tuesday at Glendale Golf & Country Club.

WATCH | Rhonda Orr prepares for Hodson Financial Senior Championship & U.S. Senior Open

The field of 88 competitors is set to tee off Wednesday morning at St. Boniface Golf Club for the 2023 Hodson Financial Men’s and Women’s Senior Championships.

70 Men and 18 Women will be vying for the 2023 championship over three rounds.

The Women’s event is led by Rhonda Orr (Southwood Golf & Country Club), who is looking for her eighth consecutive title and 10th overall since 2013. Three time champion Tammy Gibson (Niakwa Country Club) is the only other champion of this Women’s Senior tournament over the last 12 years.

It has been a whirl wind week for Orr, who recently qualified to play in the U.S. Senior Women’s Open August 24-27 in Oregon.

As for the Hodson Financial Men’s Senior Championship who will tee off Wednesday morning at 8:00, Rob Oliphant (Rossmere Country Club) is back to defend his title.
