Korman, Blair & Hammerback win at La Broquerie Golf

Cala Korman, a Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member, shot a 4 over par 76 in her final round to win the Women’s City & District Championship Sunday at La Broquerie Golf.

Korman (77-76-153) finished 3 strokes better than Niakwa Country Club’s Jill Hardy (80-76-156).

Kyla Lederer of The Country Club won the Forward Tee Division at 189 (98-91).

Adam Blair of Pinawa Golf Club won the Junior Men’s Division by 5 strokes over Pine Ridge Golf Club’s Brayden Boge. Blair finished play at 158 (80-78).

Zach Lederer of The Country Club won the 12 and Under Division at 149 (74-75).

In the 13 & 14 Division, Hudson Hunnie, a Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member at 163 (81-82) finished 6 strokes better than fellow Golf Manitoba member Ty Brewster.

Jewel Lafleche of Clear Lake Golf Course won the Junior Women’s Division with a 190 (89-101) total.

Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member Kristian Hammerback earned a 9 stroke victory in the Gross Division of the All Abilities Championship.

Hammerback’s two day total was 156 (76-80). Craig Dowling of British Columbia finished at 165 (82-83).

Hammerback also won the Net Stableford Division with 80 points. ParaGolf Ontario’s Rod Reimer placed second with 66 points.

In the Special Olympics Division, Patrick Cloutier registered the low score of 48, 7 strokes better than Brett Hoogervorst. Both golfers play out of Special Tee Golf.

Charmaine Mackid – Breezy Bend Country Club

Charmaine Mackid of Breezy Bend Country Club opened with a 3 over par 75, good for a two stroke lead over Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member Cala Korman in the opening round of the Women’s City & District Championship at LaBroquerie Golf.

Kyla Lederer of the Country Club leads the Forward Tee Division by one stroke over Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member Dee Bullough.

Bob MacDermott – Belvedere Golf & Country Club

Kristian Hammerback, a Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member, leads the Gross Division in the All Abilities Championship after carding a 4 over par 76. He has a 6 stroke advantage on Vancouver, B.C.’s Craig Dowling.

In the Net Stableford Division, Hammerback, with 42 points, has an 8 point lead over fellow Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member James Bernus.

Zach Lederer of The Country Club leads the 12 & Under Junior Men’s Championship presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation. Lederer, following a 74, is 5 strokes clear of Glendale Golf & Country Club’s Hunter Oakden.

Adam Blair of Pinawa Golf Club leads the 13 & 14 year old Junior Men’s Division and the overall Junior Men’s Division by one stroke over Hudson Hunnie, a Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member, after shooting an 80.

Jewel Lafleche of Clear Lake Golf Course opened with an 89 to lead the Junior Women’s Division.

La Broquerie Golf to host Provincial Championships this weekend

92 competitors will be at La Broquerie Golf starting Saturday afternoon as Golf Manitoba presents the 2022 All Abilities, Bantam, Women’s City and District Championships.

All three championships will be determined over 36 holes.

A dozen players will vye for the All Abilities Championship, open to golfers who identify with neurological, intellectual, sensory and physical impairments.

“We are excited to have this event in our 2022 championship calendar” said Golf Manitoba Executive Director Jared Ladobruk. “It is an important step in helping to create a more inclusive, diverse and inviting golf community in our province”.

There will be a new Women’s City & District Champion in the 24 person field as Bobbi Uhl is not taking part. Last year, she earned a two stroke victory over Southwood Golf & Country Club’s Rhonda Orr.

Brayden Boge of Pine Ridge Golf Club will look to win the Men’s Bantam Championship presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation. Boge lost by a single stroke last year to Jackson Delaurier, a Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member.

Jeri Lafleche of Clear Lake Golf Course won last year’s Women’s Bantam Championship presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation. Her sister Jewel is one of the competitors vying for the 2022 title.

Carman Golf & Curling Club City & District Championship Junior Bantam Championship

MacKid, Valaquenta & Zamzow take titles at Carman

Charmain MacKid of Breezy Bend Country Club took top honours in the 2019 City & District women’s golf championship held June 22 & 23 at the Carman Golf & Curling Club. MacKid, on rounds of 80 and 77, edged Greer Valaquenta of Southwood Golf & Country Club for a two stroke victory. Marissa Naylor of Pine Ridge Golf Club finished alone in third place shooting a two day total of 165 and eight shots back of MacKid. With the win, MacKid has won back-to-back City & District titles.

In the Junior Boy’s Bantam Championship, Feanor Valaquenta of Southwood Golf & Country Club was the overall junior champion on rounds of 77 and 81 for a 168 total. Valaquenta finished just two shots ahead of Jack Taylor of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club and ten shots ahead of Lorien Valaquenta also of Southwood.

In the Junior Girls’s Bantam Championship, Crystal Zamzow of Swam River Golf & Country Club shot rounds of 92 and 87 for a six shot victory over Cala Korman of Kilarney Lakeside Golf Club.

In the Junior Bantam 13 & 14 girl’s age division, first place went to Armaan Dhillon of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club. In the 12 and under girl’s division, first place went to Jeri Lafleche of Clear Lake Golf Course.

In the Junior Bantam 13 & 14 boy’s age division, first place went to Grady Chuback of St. Charles Country Club. Lorien Valaquenta of Southwood Golf & Country Club was the 12 & under boy’s champion.
