Manitobans cut from Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship

All five Manitobans failed to advance after 36 holes at the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship in Edmonton.

Hannah Diamond of St. Charles Country Club had the low round for our province today shooting an 82 and finishes the two day event at 165, missing the cut by three strokes.

Cala Korman, a Golf Manitoba Public Players club member shot an 84 to come in at 167

Rhonda Orr of Southwood Golf & Country Club completed play at 168, after an 85 today.

Veronica van der Meer, who had the low round for Manitoba yesterday at 77, carded a 92.

Clara Peake bettered her opening round 86 by a single stroke at 85.

Day 1 at Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship

Winnipeg’s Veronica van der Meer, a Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member, is the low Manitoban after the opening round of the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship in Edmonton.

van der Meer shot a five over par 77 and sits tied for 41st on the leaderboard at the Petroleum Golf & Country Club.

Rhonda Orr of Southwood Golf & Country Club, St. Charles Country Club’s Hannah Diamond and Golf Manitoba Public Players club member Cala Korman all shot 83 while Clara Peake of Binscarth carded an 86.

North wins PGA of Manitoba Callaway PGA Championship

Dean North of the Carman Golf Club shot back to back 69’s over the last two days to claim the PGA of Manitoba Callaway PGA Championship at the Elmhurst Golf & Country Club.

North, who finished two under par each day, earned a five stroke victory over Devon Shade (69-74) of the host course and Minnewasta Golf & Country Club’s Geoff Kehler (72-71).

Colwyn Abgrall of Golf Tec finished fourth on the leaderboard with a two day total 144 (74-70), while first round leader Kevin Giesbrecht of the Assiniboine Golf Club rounded out the top five at 147 (68-79).

The next PGA of Manitoba event is the Taylormade adidas Fall Championship August 23 & 24 at Larters at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club.

Day 1 at the PGA of Manitoba Callaway PGA Championship

Assiniboine Golf Club’s Kevin Giesbrecht has a one stroke lead heading into Tuesday’s final round of the PGA of Manitoba Callaway PGA Championship at the Elmhurst Golf & Country Club.

Giesbrecht’s three under par 68 bettered Dean North of Carman Golf & Curling Club and Devon Shade of the host course.

Trstenjak & Lavallee advance to Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship

Two spots were up for grabs this afternoon at Bridges Golf Course as four players came out the Nott Autocorp Men’s Amateur Championship with identical four day scores.

Marco Trstenjak of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club, Niakwa Country Club’s Stefan Lavallee and Connor Stewart along with Mark Kerkowich of the host Neepawa Golf and Country Club ended play last Sunday at 291.

Today, Trstenjak had the low round carding a two under par 70, while Lavallee finished at 77 edging both Stewart and Kerkowich by a single stroke.

Trstenjak and Lavallee will join Breezy Bend Country Club’s Justin McDonald and Ryan Sholdice along with St. Boniface Golf Club’s Jacob Armstrong and Drew Jones of the Shilo Country Club at the Canadian Men’s Amateur August 2nd to 5th in Windsor, Ontario.

Korman & Peake conclude Canadian Junior Girls Championship

Cala Korman of Killarney and Binscarth’s Clara Peake wrapped up four days of competition at the Leduc Golf Club as it played host to the Canadian Junior Girls Championship.

Korman shot a final round 82 to finish the event at 325 while Peake carded a 93 for a 336 total.

Day 3 at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship

Cala Korman of Killarney (pictured) made three birdies during her third round at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship at the Leduc Golf Club.

Korman ended up with an 81 on her scorecard and sits with a 54 hole total of 243.

With the same three day total is fellow Manitoban Clara Peake of Binscarth who shot an 82.

Peake & Korman make the cut at Canadian Junior Girls Championship

Clara Peake of Binscarth and Killarney’s Cala Korman are among the top 70 golfers through 36 holes at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship being played at the Leduc Golf Club.

Peake shot an 83 in her second round for a 161 total, while Korman fired a 3 over par 75 on Day 2 to sit at 162

Both advance to the final two rounds Thursday and Friday.

Manitoba golfers who did not get below the +21 cut line included Addison Kartusch (+23), Crystal Zamzow (+27), Jeri Lafleche (+28), Armaan Dhillon (+32) and Payton Oakden (+43).

Extra holes needed to decide Maple Leaf Junior Tour’s Manitoba Series

It was another impressive two days of play at the St. Boniface Golf Club in the latest installment of the Maple Leaf Junior Tour’s Manitoba Series.

Jordon McDonald of Winnipeg needed a playoff to beat Samuel Sullivan of Carman to win the Junior Boys division. Both golfers finished 36 holes of play at 150.

Hayden Delaloye of Neepawa and Austin Boge of Winnipeg, also ended up at 150 in the Juvenile Boys division. Delaloye prevailed in the playoff.

Brayden Boge of Winnipeg also needed a playoff to edge out Terence Rafferty in the Bantam Boys division after both players finished at 158.

Hudson Hunnie of Winnipeg won the Pee Wee Boys division by 20 strokes over Mason Chubey, also of Winnipeg.

Elle Wood is the 15-19 Girls champion following an eight stroke victory over Annika Russel, both of Winnipeg.
