PREVIEW: Manitoba Match Play at Grand Pines Golf Club

Grand Pines Golf Club GM & Head Professional Ivan Koop previews the host course with Golf Manitoba Director of Communications Brian Munz

89 players start teeing off Sunday morning at 8:00 in hopes of competing in the 48th Manitoba Match Play Championship Monday through Thursday at Grand Pines Golf Club.

The Low 32 amateur male players, low 32 senior male players and low 8 amateur female players after 18 holes will stave off elimination advancing to the Championship competition.

Looking back at last year’s event at St. Charles Country Club, Austin Dobrescu of Shilo Country Club won the Men’s Championship 4 & 2 over Jack Werhun of the Elmhurst Golf & Country Club, Bobbi Uhl of Shilo needed 14 holes to win the ladies crown over Hannah Diamond of the host course and Elmhurst’s Carl Lechman won the senior men’s championship on the 13th hole against Gord Hudson of Southwood Golf & Country Club.
