Golf Manitoba Remembers Past President Harvey Goehring

Golf Manitoba is deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Past President Harvey Goehring, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Harvey was a cherished leader, dedicated volunteer, and a pillar of the local golfing community whose contributions spanned decades.

Harvey served as President of Golf Manitoba from 2009 to 2011 and dedicated countess hours across nearly every committee within the organization. Beyond his provincial leadership, he represented Manitoba on national committees with Golf Canada, served as a director for the Manitoba Golf Hall of Fame & Museum, and spent years as a referee, starter, and supporter of junior player development. In recognition of their extraordinary, shared legacy of service, Harvey and his late wife, Marion, were named co-recipients of the 2024 Golf Manitoba Distinguished Service Award.

In a fitting continuation of their dedication, the Goehring family established the Harvey and Marion Goehring Scholarship through the Golf Manitoba Scholarship Fund shortly before Harvey’s passing. Awarded annually for a student-athletes entering a Canadian post-secondary institution, the scholarship recognizes high academic standing and competitive involvement with Golf Manitoba, ensuring their passion for youth development endures.

A funeral service celebrating Harvey’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at St. James Lutheran Church (871 Cavalier Drive, Winnipeg).
