Round 2 at the Canadian Men’s Senior Championship
Darren Ritchie of New Brunswick is atop of the leaderboard, and the lone competitor under par, after two rounds of the Canadian Men’s Senior Championship at the Club de Golf Le Manoir Richelieu in La Malbaie, Quebec.
Ritchie carded a two under par 70 Wednesday in a round that included four birdies.
Two Manitobans, Dan Scanlon and Garth Collings, made the cut advancing into the 3rd round of play Thursday.
Scanlon, a Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member, shot a three over par 75 and is tied for 54th place on the leaderboard at 159.
Collings, from Breezy Bend Country Club, is tied for 70th at 161 following a 78.

Round 1 at the Canadian Men’s Senior Championship
Allan Ross of Calgary was the only player to shoot even par in the opening round of the Canadian Men’s Senior Championship at the Club de Golf Le Manoir Richelieu in La Malbaie, Quebec.
Ross’ 72 is one stroke better than Darren Ritchie of New Brunswick, Saskatchewan’s Rick Hallberg and Norman Bradley of British Columbia.
Tom Humniski of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club is the top Manitoban carding a six over par 78, placing him 30th on the leaderboard.

Bisons finish 2nd at University of Alberta Invitational
An impressive second and final round at the University of Alberta Invitational saw one of two Manitoba Bisons Men’s Golf teams earn a second place finish.
Stefan Lavallee, Cameron McIntyre, Connor Stewart, Cole Peters and Lachlan Allerton combined to end play at +21, only two strokes back of the University of Fraser Valley.
Individually, Cole Peters continued his strong play from the opening round shooting even par 72 to finish play at one over par and in second place at 145.

Marissa Naylor was the lone representative in the Women’s event. She finished in fifth place after carding an 84, four strokes back of first place.
McMillan wins Hodson Financial PGA of Manitoba Seniors Championship
Dave McMillan of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club shot a final round 72 to win the 36 hole Hodson Financial PGA of Manitoba Seniors Championship by a single stroke over clubmate Derek Ingram and Barry Gibson of the host club.
Ingram and Gibson both carded 73’s today after all three players atop of the leaderboard opened with 70 yesterday at the Assiniboine Golf Club.
Glen Mills, also of Assiniboine, finished 4th (70-74-144) while Mike Gottfred of Niakwa Country Club rounded out the top five at 146 (74-72).

It was an impressive 54 holes of golf by Selkirk’s Travis Fredborg this past week in Northern Saskatchewan at the Elkridge Open on the MacKenzie Tour PGA Tour Canada.
Fredborg (68-71-67=206) finished third on the leaderboard, just five stroke back of winner Raoul Menard.

Cole Peters top Manitoban at University of Alberta Invitational
Ten golfers from the University of Manitoba are in Edmonton for the 36 hole University of Alberta Invitational at Northern Bear Golf Club.
Cole Peters shot an opening round one over par 73, and sits four strokes off the lead heading into Monday’s final round.
Winnipeg’s Jacob Armstrong, who attends the University of Fraser Valley, shot a two over par 74.

4 tied following Round 1 of Hodson Financial PGA of Manitoba Seniors Championship
Barry Gibson and Glen Mills of the host course along with Dave McMillan of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club and PGA of Manitoba’s Derek Ingram share the lead after the opening round of the Hodson Financial PGA of Manitoba Seniors Championship at Assiniboine Golf Club.
All four players shot 70, which gives them a three stoke lead over St. Boniface Golf Club’s Adrian Peters and a four stroke advantage on Mike Gottfred of Niakwa Country Club.
The second and final round tees off Monday morning at 9:00.

“Our signature hole is the 160 yard par 3, 9th hole” added Neufeld. With having to shoot over the creek coming towards the clubhouse, it’s a scenic shot that makes things interesting for sure”.

Taylor displays his talents for Golf Canada
Winnipeg’s Jack Taylor, a member of Golf Manitoba’s Junior Men’s Development Team is back home after spending a week in Toronto taking part in the Golf Canada Junior Selection Camp.
Taylor was one of 22 Junior Men chosen from across the country put through a number of skill testing assessments followed by playing 54 holes on the North Course at TPC Toronto. In those three rounds, the St. Charles Country Club member shot 78, 74 and 81.
