Registration for all Golf Manitoba championships opens on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 10am CST. Golf Manitoba is entering its second season using Golf Genius for its Tournament Management Software including all registrations. 

To be eligible to compete in Golf Manitoba competitions, players must be an active Golf Manitoba/Canada member through a member club or the Golf Manitoba Public Player Program, and must also hold an up-to-date Golf Canada Handicap Index visible on the Golf Canada Score Centre at the time of registration.

Golf Genius

The championship registration process is easier, less time consuming and accessible through Golf Canada’s Score Centre. To enter all Golf Manitoba events, you must first log into your Golf Canada Score Centre profile using a web browser, please note that you will not be able to log-in through the Golf Canada app.  Registration for all events opens April 15th at 10:00 am so please ensure the following is updated in your Golf Canada Score Centre profile:

• Date of birth
• Address
• City, province and postal code
• Cell number
• Email address
• Current handicap index

How To Register

To enter an event, you must first log-in to your Golf Canada Score Centre account.  Next, you must select the competitions tab found under the user menu on the top right-hand side of the web page. Please see image below:

This competitions tab will take you to the championship page. From here you will select the event that you wish to register in and complete the registration process.

Please note that personal Golf Genius accounts that are active at the club level will not permit you to register for any Golf Manitoba Championship.  You MUST access registration through your Golf Canada Score Centre Account.

The Team Manitoba program will officially start its green grass training season with a four-day training camp that will be held March 27-31, 2022 at the Bear Mountain Resort in Victoria, British Columbia.

Golf Manitoba will send its top junior female and male athletes to the Bear Mountain facility where they work with head coaches Bri-ann Tokariwski and Derrik Goodwin and will also integrate with the Golf Canada National Junior Squad. The training camp is a continuation of the Canada Summer Games training program that started in early January.

Representing the female program is Armaan Dhillon of the Elmhurst Golf & Country Club, Addison Kartusch of the St. Charles Country Club, Jeri Lafleche of the Clear Lake Golf Course, and Crystal Zamzow of the Swan River Golf & Country Club. Representing the male program is Ryan Blair of the Pine Ridge Golf Course, Grady Chuback of St. Charles Country Club, Hayden Delaloye of Neepawa Golf & Country Club, Kaleb Lambert of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club, Thomas Scott of St. Charles Country Club, and Jack Taylor of St. Charles Country Club.

Golf Manitoba is excited to celebrate the 100th playing of the Manitoba Junior Boys Championship July 13-15, 2022, at the historic St. Charles Country Club.

“2022 will be a special year for our junior boy’s provincial championship and we are excited to recognize the centennial playing of this event,” said Golf Manitoba executive director Jared Ladobruk. “St. Charles Country Club is an iconic venue that has a rich history of amateur and professional golf in both Manitoba and Canada and we are delighted for the support of the club’s membership to host this championship. The planning for the celebration of the great history and past champions of this event is well underway.”

“St. Charles is proud to host the 100th playing of the Manitoba Junior Boys Championship,” said Cory Kartusch, COO of St. Charles Country Club. “The Manitoba Junior Championship is the hallmark event for all junior girls and boys in the province. In the past number if years we have seen Golf Manitoba make significant strides in its support of junior golf in the province. We are happy to play a small role in supporting them by hosting this championship. We look forward to welcoming all the players to St. Charles in July for a great week of competition.”   

The Manitoba Junior Boys Championship was first played in 1923 at the Alcrest Golf Club (later became the Charleswood Golf Course) and won by Foster Woolley of the Norwood Golf Club winning with a score of 89. There were 112 competitors in the inaugural event ranging in age from 10 through 16 years old. Of special note, Foster Woolley also went on to win an Olympic gold medal (1932) playing for the 1931/32 Winnipegs (men’s hockey).

The junior boys event has been contested every year since 1923 and has a celebrated list of past champions including George Knudson, Dan Halldorson, Todd Fanning, Rob McMillian, Dale Goerhing, Adam Speirs and Aaron Cockerill.

Last year, at the 2021 Manitoba Junior Boys Championship, Breezy Bend Country Club’s Braxton Kuntz lead from start to finish capturing his first junior boys championship in his final year of eligibility.  Kuntz shot a 54-hole score of 3-over par at the Shilo Country Club in Shilo, Manitoba.

The 81^st Manitoba Junior Girls Championship will also be contested at St. Charles Country alongside the junior boy’s event.

For the third consecutive season, the 2022 Manitoba Junior Boys and Girls Championships will be presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation.  The Foundation has committed to subsidize entry fees making the championships one of the most affordable provincial junior golf championships in the country. 

More information about the 100^th Manitoba Junior Boys Championship and the various activations that will take place to celebrate the playing of the tournament will be announced in the coming months.

Golf Canada is pleased to announce its 2022 championship schedule, which includes amateur and professional competitions in addition to various qualifiers hosted at golf facilities across Canada.

The 2022 schedule is headlined by Golf Canada’s signature professional championships — the RBC Canadian Open, June 6-12, at St. George’s Golf & Country Club with host practice facility, Islington Golf Club in Toronto, Ont., and the CP Women’s Open, to be conducted August 22-28 at Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club in Ottawa, Ont.

Golf Canada’s 2022 competition calendar includes nine National Amateur Championships presented by BDO, eight NextGen Championships fueled by JOURNIE Rewards, and the World Junior Girls Golf Championship presented by Sargent Farms. Interprovincial team competitions played concurrently over the first 36 holes at select national championships will return in 2022.

As the National Sport Federation and governing body of golf in Canada, Golf Canada conducts the country’s premier amateur and professional golf championships  to support the development of the nation’s top talent through world-class competition.

“Golf Canada is incredibly proud to return to a full championship schedule in 2022 and welcome more than 3,000 talented Canadian and international athletes to our national championships,” said Golf Canada’s CEO, Laurence Applebaum. “Together with our host clubs, corporate partners, and volunteers that help drive the success of our events, there is incredible momentum in our sport as we look ahead to the 2022 season.”

Golf Canada’s championship season kicks off on May 13 in Nanaimo, B.C. with the NextGen Pacific Championship, fueled by JOURNIE Rewards at Nanaimo Golf Club, and concludes in October with the World Junior Girls Golf Championship, presented by Sargent Farms at Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, Ont.

Championship Season at a Glance…

The 18th playing of the Canadian University/College Championship, presented by BDO will be held June 1-4 at Golf Château Bromont. The championship includes both a team and individual component featuring Canada’s top university and college talent.

The 108th Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship, presented by BDO takes place July 19-22 at Westmount Golf & Country Club in Kitchener, Ont. with the champion earning an exemption into the 2022 CP Women’s Open, as well as an exemption into the 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship. The winner also receives exemptions into the 2023 U.S. Girls’ Junior, 2022 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur and 2023 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championships, if applicable.

The 67th Canadian Junior Girls Championship, presented by BDO will be contested July 26-29 at The Marshes Golf Club in Ottawa, Ont. where the winner will earn an exemption into the 2023 Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship and the 2023 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship.

The 117th playing of the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship, presented by BDO will be contested August 1-4 at Point Grey Golf & Country Club in Vancouver, B.C and Seymour Golf & Country Club in North Vancouver, B.C. A maximum field of 264 players will be cut to the low 70 players and ties after 36 holes, with the final two rounds contested at Point Grey. The champion will receive an exemption into the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, as well as an invitation to the 2022 U.S. Amateur Championship. The winner will also receive an exemption from local qualifying for the 2023 U.S. Open, and if applicable, will earn an exemption into the 2022 U.S. Mid-Amateur, 2022 U.S. Senior Amateur or 2023 U.S. Junior Amateur Championships.

The 83rd playing of the Canadian Junior Boys Championship, presented by BDO will be contested August 7-10 at Rivershore Golf Links in Kamloops, B.C. with the winner earning an exemption into the 2023 Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship and 2023 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.

The Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship, presented by BDO will be held August 23-26 at The Thornhill Club in Thornhill, Ont., while the club is  celebrating its 100^th anniversary this season.

The Canadian Women’s Mid-Amateur and Senior Championship, presented by BDO will be held August 30 – September 1, at Breezy Bend Country Club in Headingley, M.B. with the Senior champion earning an exemption into the 2023 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship and 2023 U.S. Senior Women’s Open.

As part its centennial anniversary, Red Deer Golf & Country Club in Red Deer, Alta. will host the Canadian Men’s Senior Championship, presented by BDO from September 6-9, with the champion earning an exemption into the 2023 U.S. Senior Amateur Championship.

The second playing of the Canadian All Abilities Championship, presented by BDO, a national championship for players with neurological, intellectual, sensory, and physical impairments, will be held September 13-14 at Essex Golf & Country Club in Windsor, Ont.

The NextGen Championships, fueled by JOURNIE Rewards is a high-performance junior golf series which totals eight competitions. From May to July, six championships will take place across Canada where the region’s best junior golfers will compete to earn exemptions into their respective 2022 national championships. NextGen Championships provide junior players an opportunity to develop and showcase their skills at the highest level of tournament golf.  The 2022 NextGen Championship host clubs include Nanaimo Golf Club (Nanaimo, B.C.), Oak Bay Golf Club (Port Severn, Ont.), Pine Hills Golf Club (Rocky Mountain House, Alta.), Quarry Oaks (Steinbach, MB), Club de Golf Hemmingford (Hemmingford, Qué.), and Antigonish Golf & Country Club (Antigonish, NS). An additional two Fall Series championships will take place in September and October, where players will compete for exemptions into their respective 2023 national junior championships. 

An accomplished field of international competitors will take to Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, Ont., from October 10-15, for the seventh annual World Junior Girls Golf Championship, presented by Sargent Farms. The event will welcome 25 countries playing as 3-member squads competing for both a team and individual title.

Golf Canada has also confirmed that it will not be continuing with the National Orders of Merit, beginning in 2022. Previously used to track golfer performance, the rankings will be replaced by a comprehensive talent identification system that supports the new Canadian golf high-performance strategy.

In late summer of 2021, Golf Manitoba had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with Sean Gilmour and Téo Roy, two remarkable athletes who shared with us their stories of golf.

Golf Manitoba is proud to announce the Manitoba All Abilities Championship will be played June 25-26, 2022, at the La Broquerie Golf Course.

The championship will be a 36-hole competition open to golfers from across the province who identify with neurological, intellectual, sensory and physical impairments.

“We are excited to announce this event and add it to our 2022 championship calendar” said Golf Manitoba Executive Director Jared Ladobruk. “This event is an important step in helping to create a more inclusive, diverse and inviting golf community in our province.”

“We want to thank Mitch Tetrault and the ownership group at La Broquerie Golf Course for their role as the host venue and inviting the athletes to compete for a provincial title.”

Golf Manitoba is excited to partner with Kristian Hammerback on the Manitoba All Abilities Championship. Hammerback is currently the President of the Canadian Amputee Golf Association and sits on the Governors Council of Golf Canada.

“I’m incredibly proud to be involved with Golf Manitoba as they become one of the first provinces to host an All Abilities tournament,” said Hammerback. “This is a massive step forward for the disabled golf community.”

The Manitoba All Abilities Championship will be officially recognized as a WR4GD (World Rankings for Golfers with Disability) counting event.  The World Ranking for Golfers with Disability (WR4GD) ranks the top golfers with disability on the basis of their average performance in Counting Events.

Registration for the Manitoba All Abilities Championship will open on April 15, 2022. Players must have a Golf Manitoba/Canada membership to compete in the championship and will be able to register at golfmb.ca.

One month following the Golf Manitoba event, Golf Ontario will host the Ontario Disabled Open July 25-26 at the Woodington Lake Golf Club. Later in the year, Golf Canada will host the second playing of the Canadian All Abilities Championship September 13-14 at the Essex Golf & Country Club in LaSalle, Ontario.

Teulon’s Aaron Cockerill shot a four under par 67 in his final round to finish tied for second place on the leaderboard at 12 under par at the Magical Kenya Open presented by Absa in Nairobi, Kenya.

Cockerill’s final round included an eagle on the par five tenth hole and five birdies.

The 29 year old finished the four round event with two eagles on 19 birdies over 72 holes.

The second half of the American College Golf season is underway with a pair of Golf Manitoba members taking part.

Braxton Kuntz, representing Nicholls State University, shot a final round 74 at the Gulf Coast Collegiate Tournament Tuesday on the Pine Course at Diamondhead Country Club in Bay St Louis, Mississippi.

He finished the three round event tied for 35th on the leaderboard with a 231 total.

Bobbi Uhl, representing Longwood University, carded an 82 Tuesday in her final round of the Rivertowne Invitational in Charleston, South Carolina.

Uhl’s tournament total was 247 and finished 74th on the leaderboard.
