Seven Manitobans are in Regina this week teeing off Tuesday morning in the 2026 Canadian Junior Boys Championship, presented by BDO at Wascana Country Club.
Included in the 156 person field are:

Canada’s top junior golfers will tee off in the 72-hole event and battle for the Silver Cup, awarded annually to the Canadian Junior Boys champion. The winner of the 2026 Canadian Junior Boys Championship will earn coveted exemptions into both the 2027 U.S. Junior Amateur and 122nd Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship in 2027.
“We have a great field ready to compete for our Canadian Junior Boys Championship,” said Rogan Doyle, Tournament Director, Golf Canada. “We would like to thank all the staff and volunteers at Wascana Country Club for all the work they have put in to prepare the course as we welcome some of Canada’s best young talents to Regina.”
Ryan Mosher of Saskatoon headlines the list of in-season NextGen Championship winners teeing it up in his home province after claiming two wins in the month of June. Mosher won both the NextGen Western and NextGen Prairie Championship to earn his spot in the field.

Since 1938, the Canadian Junior Boys Championship has brought together the top junior talent in the country for four rounds of entertaining competition. Those to have previously claimed the Silver Cup have gone on to serve memorable careers in the game of golf, including Canadian Golf Hall of Famers Doug Silverberg (1950), George Knudson (1955), Gary Cowan (1956) and Doug Roxburgh (1970), as well as current PGA TOUR stars Nick Taylor and Adam Svensson who each won the tournament in 2006 and 2012 respectively.
In addition to the 18-and-under championship, the 16-and-under Juvenile Championship has featured in the tournament since 1970, with the winner receiving the Jack Bailey Trophy.
The national championship will also feature an Inter-Provincial Team Championship that will run concurrently through the first 36 holes of competition. Each day, the lowest two out of three individual 18-hole scores will count towards the team score for players representing provinces. Representing Team Manitoba are Blair, Carver and Oakden.
Six members of the Golf Manitoba region are also teeing off Tuesday, in Caledon, Ontario at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (Heathlands Course) for the Canadian Junior Girls Championship, presented by BDO.

The field is led by two-time defending champion and Team Canada NextGen member, Shauna Liu of Maple, Ontario. Last year, Liu became the ninth player in tournament history to win the national championship multiple times and the first back-to-back winner since Heather Kuzmich in 1982. Liu will be in search of the three-peat in Caledon and would again tie Kuzmich who was the last to win three straight between 1981 and 1983. Canadian Golf Hall of Famers, Sandra Post (1964-66) and Gail Harvey Moore (1958-60) are the only others to three-peat in tournament history.
Following the first two rounds of play, the field will be cut to the low 70 players and ties included in the final two rounds. Along with the Brokenshire Trophy, players aged 16 and under will compete for the Florence Harvey Trophy, awarded to the Juvenile division winner.
An inter-provincial team competition will take place over the first two rounds, featuring teams from all 10 provinces. Representing Team Manitoba are Lafleche, Sitarz and Thomas.

Inspired by Ireland’s Portmarnock Golf Club, the Heathlands course’s fescue-covered dunes, pot bunkers and severely sloped greens pay homage to classic golf design with one of the truest tests in Ontario. Once the carefully guarded secret of local aficionados, the course opened in 1992 and has become a favourite of those seeking a traditional golf experience and a stirring challenge that pays homage to the simple-yet-brilliant creativity of classic golf design. Heathlands is ranked in the top 25 for public golf courses in Canada and has been the long-time host venue of the Osprey Valley Open, a PGA TOUR Americas event.

The Championship was first contested in 1955 and operated by the former Canadian Ladies Association (CLGA) until the amalgamation of CLGA and Royal Canadian Golf Association (now Golf Canada) in 2005.
The Canadian Junior Girls Championship has a long list of distinguished past champions that have etched their name on the Brokenshire Trophy. Past champions include Canadian Golf Hall of Famers Lisa Meldrum (2000), Alena Sharp (1999), Sandra Post (1964-66), Betty Stanhope (1956), Judy Darling (1957), Gail Harvey Moore (1958-1960) and Gayle Borthwick (1961). LPGA Tour players Maude-Aimée Leblanc (2006), Brooke Henderson (2012) and Maddie Szeryk (2013) also lifted the Brokenshire Trophy.
The 2026 Canadian Junior Girls champion will receive an exemption into the 113th Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship and both the 2027 Canadian Junior Girls Championship and 2027 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, if eligible.
